Principles of Tidal Sedimentology

This is one of the first books which focuses exclusively on tidal sedimentology. It is comprehensive in that it covers both modern and ancient systems, and both siliciclastic and carbonate sediments. The topic is extremely important today in both modern coastal systems and in the ancient stratigraphic record. Tidal environments are much influenced by the sea level change. In addition, much of the petroleum reserves are in strata that were deposited under the influence of tides, such as the tar sands in Canada. The chapters are written by world-renowned authors from at least ten different countries.
