Educational Encounters: Nordic Studies in Early Childhood Didactics

This book presents for early childhood education a Nordic (continental European) notion of didactics as distinct to the Anglo-American notion by the same name, and built around such principles as the learner s perspective, establishing temporarily sufficient intersubjectivity, pointing out and linguistically informing experience. A number of empirical studies from naturalistic settings are presented, including mathematics, visual-art making, ecology, music, dance, literacy, and story-telling, as well as gender, morality and democracy learning.
