Physics of Baseball & Softball

Beschreibung
The book will describe the physics of baseball, assuming that the reader has a high school background in both physics and mathematics. Authors will explain the physics as they go, in words and illustrations, so that the explanations make sense. They believe that the book will provide an excellent opportunity to explain physics at a relatively simple level, even though the primary objective is to explain the many subtle features concerning the physics of baseball. The style will mostly be conversational, recognizing that physics and mathematics is heavy going for most people. Nevertheless, there will be a group of readers who already know quite a bit of physics and who will be comfortable with mathematical equations. The intention is to provide additional material of this nature either in appendices or as mathematical asides, in such a way that it does not interfere with the smooth conversational style in the main body of the text.
Authors incorporate the latest research findings and statistical data, and will point out where more work needs to be done to understand some of the issues. Where the opportunity arises, authors will describe simple experiments that the reader can perform to convince themselves that the effects described do indeed exist.
