Antibiotics

Summary Antibiotics really are miracle drugs. Because of antibiotics, infectious diseases are no longer the great killer they once were, even with the advent of AIDS. In spite of this, resistance to antibiotics among disease-causing bacteria requires that we continue to discover and develop new antibiotics. A perfect storm of circumstances occurring within the pharmaceutical industry and the FDA is leading to conditions where new antibiotics will be as common as the Dodo bird leaving us all at risk.
