Gösta Mittag-Leffler

Gösta Mittag-Leffler (1846-1927) was an outstanding personality as a scientist and entrepreneur. His influence extended far beyond him being regarded as the father of Swedish mathematics through his manifold international contacts in science, business and art. His influence was crucial to Marie Curie being awarded the Nobel Prize twice. One of his great achievements was the founding of the journal Acta Mathematica, published by the Institut Mittag-Leffler of the Royal Academy of Science, which still today is one of the most prestigious research journals.
